In the evening, gather for a welcome meeting and tour briefing with your guide and fellow travelers, where you’ll get an overview of the exciting days ahead. Your 6-day Luang Prabang Adventure Tour begins now, promising a memorable mix of culture, cycling, nature, and discovery in Northern Laos.
Begin your day with a scenic cycling tour through Luang Prabang, starting from your hotel and heading to a vibrant local morning market. Here, you’ll witness daily life as locals shop for fresh produce, spices, and traditional ingredients, a perfect introduction to the rhythm of Lao culture.
Your journey continues with visits to some of the city’s most revered landmarks. Explore the Royal Palace Museum (National Museum) to learn about Laos’ royal history, followed by a stop at the beautifully preserved Wat Mai. Next, cycle to the iconic Wat Xieng Thong, one of Luang Prabang’s most important temples, showcasing stunning traditional Lao architecture.
After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we ride to Wat Visoun, dating back to the 16th century, before heading to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center. Here, you’ll gain valuable insight into Laos’ rich ethnic diversity and cultural traditions.
Cap off your day by climbing the stairs of Mount Phousi, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views and a breathtaking sunset over Luang Prabang. As evening falls, descend into the heart of the Luang Prabang Night Market, a lively hub of handmade textiles, local crafts, and souvenirs.
After breakfast, your Luang Prabang Adventure Tour continues with a scenic bike ride through the countryside, leaving the city behind as you pedal along quiet backroads and through traditional Lao villages.
First, visit Ban Panom, a village renowned for its traditional cotton and silk weaving. Continue on to the tomb of Henri Mouhot, the French explorer credited with introducing Angkor Wat to the Western world. Along the way, enjoy the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the Nam Khan River, surrounded by lush tropical scenery.
You’ll then tackle a moderate 1.5 km uphill climb into the Nam Khan Valley, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views. Depending on timing, enjoy a picnic lunch either atop the hill or along the riverside trail.
In the afternoon, arrive at the Elephant Village Sanctuary, a riverside conservation center dedicated to the protection and ethical treatment of elephants in Laos. Learn about the center’s mission, the history of elephants in Lao culture, and meet some of these gentle giants. From here, take a short boat ride upstream to visit the picturesque Tad Sae Waterfalls (seasonal; typically dry from February to August).
Continue your journey with a gentle trek into the “Fair Trek” Project area, an eco-tourism initiative supporting local communities. Arrive at a remote Khamu village, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by your host family. Learn about Khamu culture, daily life, and traditions as you settle in for a memorable overnight homestay experience in the heart of rural Laos.
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of rural life and enjoy a traditional Laotian breakfast with your Khamu host family. After saying farewell, begin a short trek through scenic forest paths and rice fields, soaking in the serenity of northern Laos’ untouched landscapes.
Your adventure continues with a half-day kayaking trip on the Nam Khan River, one of Luang Prabang’s most picturesque waterways. Paddle downstream for approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, navigating gentle rapids and gliding past jungle-covered hills, traditional villages, and riverbanks alive with birdlife. It’s an exhilarating yet relaxing way to experience the natural beauty of Laos.
At the end of your kayaking journey, you’ll be met by a driver and transferred back to your hotel in Luang Prabang, where you can unwind or explore more of the city at your own pace.

Your Luang Prabang Adventure Tour will be led by one of our experienced local cycling guides. For groups with fewer than 5 participants, we will have one English-speaking cycling guide and a driver. For larger groups (6 or more), we’ll provide a Cycling Tour Leader, an additional English-speaking guide, and extra drivers and assistants.
Our guides are passionate about Cambodia’s culture, history, and religion, providing insightful commentary throughout your journey. Whether exploring remote villages or ancient temples, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Southeast Asia firsthand.
We provide top-quality mountain bikes for all our cyclists. If you have your own bike, we recommend ensuring it’s fully serviced before the tour. Our guides carry a reliable toolkit and are skilled in basic bike repairs during the trip. However, some advanced repairs may require specialized tools.
A backup vehicle will accompany the group at all times, providing security and comfort. This vehicle will carry your luggage and offer a ride if you need assistance during the ride. It will stop roughly every 15 kilometers, ensuring that you can rest, hydrate, and enjoy the scenery.
Your safety is our top priority. Wearing a helmet is mandatory on all rides. If you choose not to wear a helmet, you won’t be permitted to cycle. All of our guides are trained in first aid and emergency rescue, but we encourage all cyclists to be mindful of their own safety during the ride.
Our Luang Prabang Adventure Tour features diverse terrain, including flat and rolling hills on a mix of sealed and dirt roads. Expect scenic, rural landscapes and quiet back roads with minimal traffic. Frequent stops will allow for rest, snacks, and photos along the way.
The tour is designed to accommodate cyclists of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned riders. It’s not a race—everyone is encouraged to cycle at their own pace. While the route is physically demanding, you can always hop into the support vehicle if you need a break. We want everyone to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
Since the tour involves moderate physical exertion, it’s important that you’re in good physical health. Please inform your guide of any pre-existing medical conditions before the trip, and if you feel unwell at any point, let the guide know immediately. Your safety and well-being are our priority.
We take hydration seriously. During the tour, we’ll provide cold water, locally sourced fruit, and soft drinks to keep you energized. Meals are not inclusive of soft drinks or alcoholic beverages, though beer is widely available at many stops throughout the journey. Beer is not included in the tour price.
Our Luang Prabang Adventure Tour includes most major expenses. We recommend bringing about US$30 for incidentals like souvenirs, additional drinks, or optional activities. Any extra activities or food outside the itinerary will be at your own cost.
Laos: The local currency is kip, though US dollars and Thai baht are widely accepted in major cities. ATMs are available but can be limited in rural areas. Spend all your kip before leaving Laos, as it is not exchangeable once you depart.
Solo travelers are welcome on our tour! While our prices are based on twin-sharing accommodation, we will pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. If you prefer a private room, this option is available at an additional cost.
Laos: All nationalities require a visa to enter Laos, which can be obtained through an E-Visa or Visa on Arrival. For more details, visit Laos E-Visa.
