You’ll be transferred to your comfortable, centrally-located hotel in Bangkok, where you can relax and settle in after your journey. In the evening, join us for a welcome meeting and trip briefing, where you’ll meet your fellow cyclists and receive an overview of the exciting days ahead. Our guide will go over your cycling itinerary, safety tips, and bike fitting to ensure you’re ready for your cycling adventure through Thailand.
Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or a passionate traveler looking for a unique way to explore Thailand, this cycling tour from Bangkok to Chiang Mai offers the perfect blend of culture, nature, and active travel.
After a hearty breakfast in Bangkok, we’ll transfer approximately 81 kilometers north to Ayutthaya, a strategic move to bypass the city’s busy traffic and start your cycling adventure on more scenic and peaceful roads.
Upon arrival, we’ll explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam. Once a thriving metropolis and royal seat for 417 years (1351–1767), Ayutthaya is now a stunning historical park featuring majestic ruins, towering chedis, and sacred temples. Our guided temple visit offers a fascinating insight into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
From Ayutthaya, we hop on our bikes and begin cycling along quiet back roads and rural landscapes, heading toward Ang Thong Province. Enjoy picturesque views of rice paddies, traditional Thai villages, and serene countryside scenes as you pedal through lesser-known yet beautiful regions of central Thailand.
We’ll arrive in Uthai Thani, a peaceful riverside town untouched by mass tourism. If time permits, we’ll climb Sakae Krang Hill for a panoramic sunset view over Uthai Thani and visit the hilltop temple, an ideal way to end the day with both a physical challenge and a spiritual reward.
We’ll spend the night in Uthai Thani, enjoying local hospitality and preparing for more exciting cycling ahead.
This morning, your cycling adventure through Thailand continues as we depart from our peaceful resort in Uthai Thani, tucked away near the town center and accessible by a charming little bridge across the river.
We begin our ride along the Sakae Krang River, a vital waterway that has shaped life and culture in Uthai Thani for centuries. As we leave the town behind, we witness the confluence where the Sakae Krang meets the mighty Chao Phraya River, one of Thailand’s most important rivers and a lifeline for much of the country.
Our cycling route today offers one of the most scenic rides of the entire tour. We follow quiet country roads along the Chao Phraya River, passing lush rice fields, tranquil villages, local markets, and glimpses of authentic rural Thai life, this is the REAL Thailand, far from the tourist trail.
We’ll pause for lunch at a local riverside restaurant in Nakhon Sawan, perfectly situated where the Ping and Nan rivers merge to form the Chao Phraya. It’s a picturesque and historically significant spot, ideal for relaxing and soaking in the view.
After completing approximately 80 km of cycling, we’ll transfer by vehicle (about one hour) along Highway 1 to the town of Kamphaeng Phet, where we’ll stay overnight. Kamphaeng Phet, a former garrison town of the Sukhothai Kingdom, offers a rich blend of history and local culture that we’ll explore further tomorrow.
After a delicious breakfast, we begin the day by cycling from our hotel to the nearby Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a former military outpost of the Sukhothai Kingdom. Here, we’ll spend about an hour exploring its ancient temples, moss-covered ruins, and majestic Buddha statues—offering a glimpse into the grandeur of 14th-century Siam.
Leaving the historical park, we ride north on peaceful roads toward Phran Kratai, where we’ll stop for a relaxing Thai lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, our journey continues through the lush countryside along the edge of Ramkhamhaeng National Park, a beautiful stretch surrounded by forested hills, farmland, and charming rural communities.
Our destination is the legendary city of Sukhothai, the birthplace of Thai civilization. Founded in 1238 AD, Sukhothai was Thailand’s first independent kingdom and served as the capital of the Thai Empire for over 140 years. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the stunning Sukhothai Historical Park, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll discover elegant chedis, lotus-filled ponds, and serene statues of the Buddha, all set against a peaceful, park-like landscape that’s ideal for cycling.
After our temple exploration, we’ll pedal a short distance to our hotel in Sukhothai, where you can unwind and reflect on a day filled with history, culture, and scenic cycling.
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a well-deserved rest day in the beautiful and historically rich city of Sukhothai. This free day allows you to explore at your own pace, whether you prefer to relax, dive deeper into history, or simply soak in the serene surroundings.
We recommend revisiting the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can spend more time exploring its sprawling complex of ancient temples, Buddha statues, and lotus-filled ponds by foot or by renting a bicycle. The park is especially tranquil in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is ideal for photography.
Alternatively, stroll through local markets, enjoy a traditional Thai massage, or visit nearby villages to experience the charm of authentic Thai culture away from the tourist crowds. Sukhothai’s relaxed pace and cultural richness make it the perfect place to recharge before continuing your cycling journey north.
Your Thailand cycling adventure resumes tomorrow, so take the time today to refresh your mind and body.
After breakfast, we continue our epic bike tour from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, heading deeper into Thailand’s historic heartland. Today’s journey takes us from Sukhothai to the lesser-visited yet equally remarkable Si Satchanalai Historical Park, located approximately 55 kilometers north of the city.
Our morning ride follows scenic country roads, weaving through verdant rice fields, quiet villages, and rural landscapes. Upon arriving at Si Satchanalai, we’ll explore the UNESCO-listed ruins of this former royal city. Founded in 1250 AD, Si Satchanalai served as the residence of the Sukhothai crown prince and played a key role as a second capital during the 13th and 14th centuries.
The site offers a peaceful and more off-the-beaten-path experience compared to Sukhothai, with well-preserved temples, pagodas, and ancient city walls nestled in a forested park. It’s a favorite among history lovers and photographers alike.
After our temple exploration, we’ll enjoy a traditional Thai lunch at a local restaurant near the park. In the afternoon, we hop back on our bikes for a final 25-kilometer countryside ride, completing today’s cycling portion.
We then transfer by vehicle to the charming town of Lampang, where we’ll stay overnight. Known for its horse-drawn carriages, Burmese-style temples, and laid-back vibe, Lampang is a hidden gem that adds depth to our cultural journey through northern Thailand.
We begin our day by cycling from our hotel in Lampang, heading northwest toward the mountains and rivers of northern Thailand.
Our first stop is at Kad Tung Kwian Market, a lively local market known for regional snacks, fresh produce, and handmade goods. It’s the perfect place to stretch your legs, refuel, and experience authentic northern Thai culture.
Back on the saddle, we continue cycling toward Doi Khun Tan National Park, one of Thailand’s oldest national parks, nestled in a forested mountain range. We’ll enjoy lunch in a natural setting, surrounded by the tranquility of the park, a refreshing break before the final leg of the ride.
In the afternoon, we pedal into Lamphun, one of Thailand’s oldest cities, located just 25 km south of Chiang Mai. Once the capital of the ancient Hariphunchai Kingdom, Lamphun lies along the serene Khuang River, offering a picturesque and peaceful ride.
From Lamphun, we follow the Ping River northward, passing through changing scenery from quiet villages and farmlands to the outskirts of Chiang Mai. The contrast between the rural calm and the energy of the city becomes increasingly vivid as we reach our final destination.
Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, you’ll be welcomed by the city’s unique charm, where ancient temples, lively markets, and a rich Lanna heritage await. Check into your comfortable hotel.
Your final full day on the Bike Tour Bangkok to Chiang Mai is a memorable blend of culture, cycling, and scenic relaxation in Thailand’s northern capital. After breakfast, we set out on our bikes from the hotel to explore the rich cultural and historical landmarks that make Chiang Mai a favorite among travelers.
Our first stop is the Old Chiang Mai Cultural Center, where you’ll gain deeper insight into the history and traditions of the Lanna Kingdom, the ancient culture that shaped this region. Discover traditional architecture, local crafts, and stories that give context to Chiang Mai’s unique identity.
Afterward, we enjoy a delicious lunch at a local Thai restaurant, sampling authentic northern cuisine.
In the afternoon, we continue cycling to Wat Sri Suphan, famously known as the Silver Temple, renowned for its intricate handcrafted silverwork and striking design. This lesser-visited gem offers a peaceful yet powerful experience, blending religious significance with exceptional artistry.
As the day winds down, we trade our bikes for a peaceful experience on the Mae Ping River Sunset Cruise. Sit back and relax as you glide along the river, watching local life unfold along the banks and enjoying the golden glow of the Chiang Mai sunset—an unforgettable way to close your cycling adventure.
We return to our hotel in Chiang Mai for the night, with memories of temples, rivers, and roads well-traveled.
This morning marks the conclusion of your unforgettable Bike Tour from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing morning at the hotel. Check-out time is midday, and from here, you’re free to plan the next leg of your journey.
Whether you’re heading to the airport or continuing your travels, Chiang Mai is a fantastic place to linger. If you’re extending your stay, we highly recommend exploring more of what this vibrant city has to offer—from cultural landmarks and Buddhist temples to bustling night markets and street food tours.
For those looking to deepen their cultural experience, consider taking a Thai cooking class, visiting an elephant sanctuary, hiking in the Doi Inthanon National Park, or enjoying a spa day with a traditional Thai massage.
You will be led by one of our experienced local cycling guides. For groups with fewer than 5 participants, we will have one English-speaking cycling guide and a driver. For larger groups (6 or more), we’ll provide a Cycling Tour Leader, an additional English-speaking guide, and extra drivers and assistants.
Our guides are passionate about Cambodia’s culture, history, and religion, providing insightful commentary throughout your journey. Whether exploring remote villages or ancient temples, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Southeast Asia firsthand.
We provide top-quality mountain bikes for all our cyclists. If you have your own bike, we recommend ensuring it’s fully serviced before the tour. Our guides carry a reliable toolkit and are skilled in basic bike repairs during the trip. However, some advanced repairs may require specialized tools.
A backup vehicle will accompany the group at all times, providing security and comfort. This vehicle will carry your luggage and offer a ride if you need assistance during the ride. It will stop roughly every 15 kilometers, ensuring that you can rest, hydrate, and enjoy the scenery.
Your safety is our top priority. Wearing a helmet is mandatory on all rides. If you choose not to wear a helmet, you won’t be permitted to cycle. All of our guides are trained in first aid and emergency rescue, but we encourage all cyclists to be mindful of their own safety during the ride.
The terrain is varied, mainly flat and follows by the mixture of tarmac roads, some hills and dirt roads passing the countryside & rural village. You will cycle on back roads with lovely open landscapes and leisurely with plenty of stops in every 15km to enjoy snack and drink or taking photos. Our guides can also easily accommodate any type riders, in case you would not be able to complete the distance you would be able to jump into the support vehicle.
The tour is designed to accommodate cyclists of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned riders. It’s not a race—everyone is encouraged to cycle at their own pace. While the route is physically demanding, you can always hop into the support vehicle if you need a break. We want everyone to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
Since the tour involves moderate physical exertion, it’s important that you’re in good physical health. Please inform your guide of any pre-existing medical conditions before the trip, and if you feel unwell at any point, let the guide know immediately. Your safety and well-being are our priority.
We take hydration seriously. During the tour, we’ll provide cold water, locally sourced fruit, and soft drinks to keep you energized. Meals are not inclusive of soft drinks or alcoholic beverages, though beer is widely available at many stops throughout the journey. Beer is not included in the tour price.
Our tour includes most major expenses. We recommend bringing about US$30 for incidentals like souvenirs, additional drinks, or optional activities. Any extra activities or food outside the itinerary will be at your own cost.
Thailand: The Thai currency is the baht. ATMs, which are abundant, are the easiest ways to get Thai baht. Have a supply of US dollars in cash on hand, just in case your card doesn’t work. Banks or the rarer private moneychangers offer the best foreign-exchange rates. Credit cards are accepted in big cities and resort hotels but you’ll need baht for family-run guesthouses or restaurants.
Solo travelers are welcome on our tour! While our prices are based on twin-sharing accommodation, we will pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. If you prefer a private room, this option is available at an additional cost.
Thailand: All nationalities require a passport for entry into Thailand. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the duration of your stay in the country. If staying less than 30 days then a visa in advance is not required by European, North American, Australian and many other nationalities. Please check this page to see if you qualify. You will need to show proof of an onward flight out of Thailand to be eligible for the visa on arrival. This is strictly enforced.
Travel insurance is mandatory for all participants. Ensure your policy covers personal injury, medical expenses, and cancellation. We recommend securing insurance as soon as you book your trip to ensure you’re covered in case of unexpected cancellations or emergencies.
A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking, with the remaining 70% due 30 days before departure. Full payment is required for bookings made within one month of departure.
Upon booking, we will send a final tour confirmation with essential details, including flight information, visa advice, a packing list, and a comprehensive itinerary. You’ll also receive a checklist to ensure you’re fully prepared for your unforgettable adventure cycling.
