Here, you’ll be fitted with your bike and given a comprehensive safety briefing before setting off on your first day of cycling. A short ferry ride across the Tien River marks the start of your journey into the heart of the rural Mekong Delta, a region famous for its lush greenery, winding waterways, and traditional villages.
Your ride today takes you along a scenic mix of paved countryside roads and charming off-road trails. Pedal through verdant rice fields, rustic hamlets, and alongside narrow canals. The route includes quiet gravel and dirt paths shaded by coconut palms and banana trees, offering an immersive experience of local life in Southern Vietnam.
Later in the day, you’ll cross the wide Cochien River by ferry before arriving in Tra Vinh, a tranquil, tree-lined town with a rich Khmer cultural heritage. It’s the perfect place to unwind after your first day of cycling in Vietnam.
After breakfast, we continue with a short scenic boat ride that takes us to Vinh Long, one of the Mekong Delta’s most famous fruit-producing towns. Known for its fertile soil and vibrant orchards, Vinh Long is a perfect starting point for another immersive day of biking.
Today’s ride takes us deep into the countryside, along a patchwork of narrow village lanes, peaceful dirt tracks, and shaded trails. You’ll cycle through lush fruit orchards, past colorful stilted homes, and along the quiet banks of winding canals. The route offers a truly authentic look into delta life, where friendly locals greet you with warm smiles and curious children wave as you pass.
A highlight of the day includes crossing narrow waterways aboard a traditional local sampan, a quintessential Mekong Delta experience. The ride continues to the ferry terminal, where a relaxing boat trip carries us across the broad Co Chien River. From here, it’s a short, final ride into Can Tho, the bustling heart of the delta and home to Vietnam’s most famous floating market.
Start your day early with a scenic boat ride to visit the Cai Rang Floating Market, the largest and most vibrant floating market in the Mekong Delta. Here, you’ll witness the authentic local trade culture as farmers and merchants exchange seasonal fruits and produce directly from their boats, offering a truly immersive look at life on the water.
After the boat tour, continue your adventure by bike along peaceful backroads and lush village paths, cycling past rice paddies, canals, and traditional stilt houses that showcase the heart of southern Vietnam. Enjoy the tranquility and charm of the countryside as you pedal through this unique rural landscape.
Midday, transfer by bus to Long Xuyen for a local lunch stop. Afterward, continue the journey by vehicle with a short transfer, followed by another scenic cycling segment before your final transfer to Chau Doc, a charming riverside town near the Cambodian border. Overnight in Chau Doc, where you can relax and prepare for the next leg of your cross-border cycling adventure.
This morning, your Saigon to Bangkok Bike Tour experience takes to the water as we begin the next phase of our cross-border adventure. After a short transfer to the Mekong River dock, we say farewell to our Vietnamese crew and board a speedboat ferry to Phnom Penh, crossing the international border from Vinh Xuong (Vietnam) to Kaam Samnor (Cambodia).
The 4-hour journey along the majestic Mekong River offers a relaxing and immersive window into daily river life. As the boat glides past floating houses, fish farms, and riverside villages, you’ll witness the evolving landscapes and cultures that line the banks of one of Southeast Asia’s most vital waterways.
Upon arrival at the boat pier in Phnom Penh, you will be greeted by your Cambodian guide and transferred to your comfortable hotel in the capital. The afternoon is yours to relax, settle in, or explore at your own pace.
As the sun begins to set, we regroup for a sunset river cruise along the Phnom Penh riverfront. Enjoy cocktails, beer, or soft drinks aboard a traditional boat while taking in panoramic views of the Royal Palace, bustling waterfront, and local life unfolding along the banks, a serene introduction to Cambodia’s vibrant capital.
Today is dedicated to exploring the rich cultural and historical layers of Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s vibrant capital. This guided city tour offers a powerful contrast between the grandeur of Cambodia’s royal heritage and the sobering legacy of its recent past.
Your morning begins at the magnificent Royal Palace, one of Phnom Penh’s most iconic landmarks, majestically situated at the confluence of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap Rivers. Built in 1866 by King Norodom, the complex still serves as the official residence of the King. Explore the ornate Coronation Hall, the Royal Dance Pavilion, and the Silver Pagoda, famed for its gleaming floor covered with over 5,000 pure silver tiles, each weighing one kilogram.
In the afternoon, your focus shifts to Cambodia’s turbulent 20th-century history. Begin at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), a former high school turned into a secret prison and torture center during the Khmer Rouge regime. The haunting photographs and testimonies presented here serve as a stark reminder of the atrocities committed under Pol Pot’s rule. Please be advised: the content is emotionally intense and may be distressing.
Next, a short drive brings you to Choeung Ek, also known as the Killing Fields, where more than 17,000 Cambodians were executed and buried in mass graves during the Khmer Rouge era. Though the pits have faded, a towering stupa filled with over 8,000 human skulls stands as a solemn and moving memorial to the victims.
Return to your hotel for a reflective evening and overnight stay in Phnom Penh.
This morning, we continue our journey deeper into Cambodia as your Saigon to Bangkok Bike Tour moves toward one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic destinations: Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred by van to the quiet town of Kampong Kdei, located in Siem Reap Province. This region is rich in rural charm and historical depth and remarkably untouched by tourism, offering a truly authentic Cambodian cycling experience.
From Kampong Kdei, begin your ride along peaceful, tree-shaded red dirt roads that wind through a mosaic of traditional villages and rice fields. This stretch of countryside is both scenic and serene, with smiling locals and curious children waving as you pass by.
Along the way, we stop at Makak Water Reservoir, a significant yet little-known site constructed during the Khmer Rouge era. This reservoir is not only an engineering remnant of Pol Pot’s regime but also a place where survivors still visit to reflect on the past, making this stop both a historical and human connection to Cambodia’s recent history.
The ride today is relatively gentle but deeply immersive, offering a unique perspective of Cambodian life far from the usual tourist trails. After completing the cycling portion, we transfer the final stretch by van to Siem Reap, where you’ll settle in for the night in preparation for your visit to the temples of Angkor.
You’ll begin pedaling toward the Angkor Archaeological Park via the Angkor Pass checkpoint, your gateway to one of the world’s greatest cultural treasures.
As you cycle along scenic, shaded backroads (with occasional gentle bumps), the adventure unfolds with visits to a series of remarkable temples: Prasat Kravan, Banteay Kdei, Ta Prohm. From here, continue cycling to the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire Angkor Thom. Enter through the South Gate, a monumental stone arch carved with elephant motifs and four giant serene faces include Bayon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of the Leper King.
After your morning ride through the spiritual and architectural wonders of the Khmer empire, enjoy a traditional Cambodian lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, the journey continues with an in-depth visit to the magnificent Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world and a symbol of Cambodia. Take time to explore its grand galleries, towers, and intricate bas-reliefs that depict scenes from Hindu epics and Khmer history.
As the day winds down, cycle back and return to your hotel, filled with unforgettable memories from one of the most iconic days.
Today’s cycling adventure takes you beyond the temples and into the heart of Cambodia’s countryside. Pedal through scenic rural landscapes on quiet backroads as you make your way from Siem Reap to Kampong Phluk, a traditional fishing village on the edge of Tonle Sap Lake, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake.
Along the ride, you’ll pass the Rolous Group temples, some of the earliest permanent structures built during the Angkor period, dating back to the 9th century. These lesser-visited ruins were once part of Hariharalaya, one of the first Khmer capitals.
Your destination, Kampong Phluk, offers a rare glimpse into authentic Cambodian life. Here, entire communities live in stilted homes and floating villages, adapting ingeniously to the rhythm of the lake’s rising and falling waters. A boat trip on Tonle Sap takes you through mangrove forests and local waterways, providing an intimate look at traditional fishing techniques, floating schools, and how locals sustain their livelihoods.
After your exploration, return to Siem Reap by private vehicle, closing another memorable day on your cycling journey through Cambodia.
After days of immersive cycling and cultural discovery, today is a well-earned rest day in Siem Reap, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace or simply relax and recharge.
You might choose to revisit your favorite Angkor temples, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the lively Old Market and Pub Street, or indulge in a traditional Khmer spa treatment. For those interested in Cambodia’s arts scene, the Angkor National Museum or Phare Cambodian Circus offer unique insights into the country’s rich heritage and creative expression.
This is also a perfect opportunity to shop for handcrafted souvenirs, silk scarves, or locally-made ceramics or to simply relax by your hotel’s pool with a cool drink in hand.
After breakfast, we begin the day with a scenic transfer from your hotel to Battambang, a charming riverside city known for its colonial architecture and rich Khmer heritage. We’ll arrive in Battambang by late morning and enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant featuring traditional Cambodian flavors.

Continue cycling to Phnom Sampov, a sacred mountain steeped in history and spirituality. Climb to the hilltop temple for panoramic views of the Battambang countryside as the sun begins to set, an unforgettable moment of your journey. The day ends with a local culinary experience, as you savor more of Cambodia’s diverse and flavorful cuisine.
Begin the day with an early morning departure from Battambang, transferring to the scenic Kamping Puoy Reservoir, nestled between two forested mountains. This peaceful and expansive lake provides a stunning backdrop as you gear up for today’s cycling adventure.
From here, we set off by bike through one of Cambodia’s most untouched and authentic regions. Pedal along quiet backroads, passing rural farms, fruit orchards, and traditional Khmer villages where friendly locals wave as you ride by. The route offers a true sense of discovery, taking you deep into the heart of Cambodia’s countryside and toward the lesser-known Pailin province, near the Thai border.
Enjoy the freedom of the open road, rolling hills, and the occasional mountain view, this is adventure cycling at its finest. End the day with an overnight stay in Pailin, a remote yet charming town steeped in natural beauty and a fascinating past.
Today marks your final day cycling in Cambodia on the Saigon to Bangkok Bike Tour, as we journey west toward the Cambodia–Thailand border, riding along a quiet, scenic road that winds through the foothills of the Cardamom Mountains.
This remote border region holds a fascinating past, once a strategic route for the Khmer Rouge, used for smuggling gems, receiving supplies, and escaping advancing forces. As you pedal through this historically rich and rugged terrain, you’ll feel the essence of frontier cycling at its most raw and rewarding.
At the border, your Cambodian guide will assist with immigration formalities before you cross into Thailand, where you’ll meet your Thai cycling crew. Immediately, the contrast between the two countries becomes apparent from Cambodia’s dusty backroads and modest wooden homes to Thailand’s smooth tarmac highways and modern infrastructure.
Continue riding to Pong Nam Ron, a tranquil Thai town nestled in rolling countryside. After the ride, unwind at your hotel’s pool with a cold drink, overlooking a serene golf course framed by forested mountains, a perfect end to a memorable day of cross-border cycling.
Today is the longest cycling day of your Saigon to Bangkok Bike Tour, covering approximately 110 km of varied terrain. We begin with a series of gentle climbs and descents through lush, forested hills, an invigorating start to a day that gradually shifts in scenery and sensation.
As you approach the coast, the landscape transforms. Forests and distant mountain views give way to palm-lined roads, fruit orchards, and the fresh breeze of the Gulf of Thailand. Riding through the heart of Chanthaburi Province, famous for its tropical fruits, you’ll pass countless durian, mangosteen, and rambutan plantations, don’t be surprised if you’re invited to sample some along the way!
The route remains peaceful and scenic, following low-traffic paved roads that offer both comfort and a close connection with the surrounding countryside. You’ll cycle through vibrant local villages and quiet backroads before reaching your reward: the tranquil shores of Chaolao Beach.
End the day with a refreshing swim in the sea or a walk along the quiet coastline before gathering for a well-deserved beachfront dinner. Overnight stay at a relaxing seaside hotel in Chaolao Beach.

As you pedal from beach to beach, you’ll pass local seafood markets, active fishing ports, and charming Buddhist temples, perfect for photo stops or a refreshing break. The route is flat and scenic, winding through mangrove forests, fruit plantations, and quaint rural settlements. This stretch of the journey beautifully blends natural beauty with authentic cultural experiences.
Along the way, you’ll take short local ferry crossings across scenic estuaries, offering a unique perspective of the coastline and helping reduce riding distance while adding to the adventure.
The day concludes at the peaceful and laid-back Laem Mae Phim Beach, known for its clean sands and gentle waves. Here, you’ll have time to unwind, swim in the warm waters, or simply relax before dinner by the sea.

Vietnam: The official national currency is the Vietnam Dong, but the US dollar is widely accepted in tourist centers. However, in smaller towns and villages the Dong is preferred. ATMs are available in all major tourist destinations and big cities. Vietcombank has the best network with a single withdrawal limit of 2,000,000d (about US$125). Most major currencies can be exchanged at leading banks in Vietnam, but the US dollar is preferred away from the tourist centers. Changing US$100 will make you an instant millionaire! You cannot legally take the dong out of Vietnam but you can reconvert reasonable amounts of it into US dollars on departure.
Cambodia: US dollars and Thai baht are used extensively in cities. Cambodian riel is typically used in smaller towns. ATMs are common, and most dispense US dollars. You may need to use riel in rural areas.
Thailand: The Thai currency is the baht. ATMs, which are abundant, are the easiest ways to get Thai baht. Have a supply of US dollars in cash on hand, just in case your card doesn’t work. Banks or the rarer private moneychangers offer the best foreign-exchange rates. Credit cards are accepted in big cities and resort hotels but you’ll need baht for family-run guesthouses or restaurants.
Solo travelers are welcome on our tour! While our prices are based on twin-sharing accommodation, we will pair you with another solo traveler of the same gender. If you prefer a private room, this option is available at an additional cost.
